Arcata’s Creamery District will come alive for three days in August with pageantry, live music, outdoor art installations, comedy, food, arts & crafts, a circus tent and more as the neighborhood celebrates the arts in Humboldt County and beyond.
This special neighborhood event begins on Friday evening with a free night of entertainment that includes Elemental; an outdoor pageant with a community lantern procession, stilt walkers, giant puppets and shadow performance, moving on to a showing of Buster Keaton’s silent film classic, The General outside with a live music score and finishing the night with music from Salsa band Ponche’.
Saturday’s schedule will feature live local music, variety performance, food, arts & crafts booths, a kids area and public art abound with an evening music performance by Jenny Scheinman and The Tiptons and late night comedy event from Wet the Hippo, a Los Angeles sketch/improv troupe.
Sunday will feature the Arcata Interfaith Gospel Choir, Scotia Band and our Big Top Vaudeville Variety Show for families. Throw in the Kinetic Sculpture Lab roaming about, a collection of commissioned public art works and a spectacular circus tent and you have a neighborhood party of epic proportions.
Creamery Festival is supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, The California Arts Council, Humboldt Area Foundation and local business sponsors Wildberries Marketplace, Tomas Jewelry, Greenway Partners and Holly Yashi Jewelry.
